The 54th edition of the Paris Air Show draws to a close today, and after a four-year hiatus the 2023 event has been a great success, with record aircraft orders and industry-first technologies on display.
The FINN team has been busy throughout the event, filming highlights from the show each day as well as interviewing leaders in the aerospace sector. We’ve published six event wrap videos and have captured the biggest news stories from the event on our website.
Show success
On Monday, IndiGo announced the biggest ever single purchase agreement in the history of commercial aviation when it confirmed an order for 500 A320 Family aircraft from Airbus. We also saw big orders from Air India for a total of 470 airframes with Boeing and Airbus, Avolon, which ordered 40 Boeing 737 MAX, and flynas confirmed an order for 30 new A320neo Family aircraft.
There were multiple new aircraft models unveiled during the show, including VoltAero’s Cassio 330 electric-hybrid aircraft, marking a major step toward aviation’s goal of decarbonisation and sustainable mobility. De Havilland Canada also launched the DHC-6 Twin Otter Classic 300-G with combined purchase agreements and letters of intent totalling 45 aircraft.
eVTOL focus
There were big conversations happening around supply chain and sustainability, as well as the growth of the eVTOL market. Hall 5 played host to dozens of eVTOL developers including Archer, Joby, Eve Air Mobility and Volocopter, the latter of which announced eVTOL flight routes for the Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games 2024 with Groupe ADP.
FINN was able to visit some impressive aircraft on the static display, including the Boeing 777X and 737-9 test aircraft. The Aerospace Industries Association, the US-based aerospace and defence industry body, also showed the team around its fleet of military aircraft, including the F35 fighter plane.
