Up to now computing systems have relied on their ability to store and manipulate information as (bits). Quantum computers on the other hand use quantum level phenomena to manipulate information (qubits).
It is expected that quantum computers will be more able to tackle future challenges, especially those that involve a large number of variables and potential outcomes, such as improved weather simulations or flight optimisation questions — much faster than any classical computer. [more..]
